Seth-
Tell me about it! Growing up in the "South End" and going to Franklin School was the best ever. My brother and I were NOT allowed to walk on Water Street, but we had to frequent Crites anyway (even though that was not permitted either) to buy our Garbage Pail Kids, Miller Field where we crawled under the fence to play on the toxic waste piles behind, the solar eclipse, the Space Shuttle crash, and the earthquake of 5th grade (why did everything happen in 5th grade)...school carnivals, Mr. Flaherty's paper drive, etc.

My brother still lives in Wadsworth and I've driven up Chestnut Street through the ol 'hood many times since they tore down Franklin and it seems so SMALL now. I can remember when being a school crossing guard was a HUGE honor and when riding my bike to Franklin to play on the playground seemed like a million miles away.

I definitely still think they should re-open the old Maries so we can get back in there to play Ms. Pac Man and Space Invaders and emerge smelling like week-old grease. There is much to be said about nostalgia.

Amanda

Howdy all! Welcome newbies!

JASON - I bet if I could enough liquor in ya I could get you to go muddin - LOL!!! I can be very convincing... or we could just tie you up and throw you in the back of a pickup!! :-) Sorry, just a thought!

CARRIE - I really feel for you and the daycare thing... that's the exact reason I stayed home when I had mine - I just couldn't bring myself to do it so youngl. It's tough to chose and seems like a losing situation financially. I'm already dreading sending mine full time when I go back to work. Hopefully it works out well for you!

SETH - Welcome! Glad to see you're doing well - you look exactly the same as I remember. You have a gorgeous family. RE: the yearbook... no, I didn't get mine either. I called last year and they had one left for sale, but nobody ever got back to me on how to pay for it, then it was gone. I was so disappointed! Little did I know my niece (attending WHS) was the one that bought it and she gave it to me for Christmas last year. They said it was the last - but you could always check to make sure.

LAURA - I've already had one request for a copy from mine... I'm going to see what I can do to get it done. But Mandy runs this site - I don't know if she has the time or capabilities for that??

Til next time all - take care!! XOXO

if Mandy can't get it up, you could post to a photo site like photobucket or flickr and post the link here :) if I hadn't had my yearbook I would have been screwed...the names are all familiar but the faces not so much...

I have a scanner @ work, I could do it. I have to track down my yearbook though ;) I think it is at my parents. I'll work on it!

Hi Seth! I don't think I have ever talked to you but Jessica King and I used to say that you look like Sting! LOL, you still do!

Carrie- I got the pictures today, and I love the one of you and your boy! He is cute, and I can understand why you wouldn't want to put him in day care. You know that if I lived there, I would gladly watch him for you!

Mandy - I have my yearbook and a scanner - I know how to use both of those. But I'm not the "computer savvy" one Laura referenced... I don't know much about setting up a website or what you would need to do, but I have the basic capabilities here so if you need anything from me let me know!

I too am horrible at putting names with faces... the only thing I can seem to retain anymore are dates & times! I love that people are putting current pics up - although there are some that look almost exactly the same, there are others that I could carry on a conversation with somewhere and not even realize I know them (I know, I know - I'm horrible)!! Everyone keep the pics coming!

Which reminds me... I hate to bring up the subject, but it's a shame that we already have inclusions in the "In Memory" tab. Does anyone know what happened to Scott Ewing? I remember him, and I knew Tim Smith well. I'm embarrassed to even ask this... but who were David and Renee? I can't place the names and faces? Was Renee the one that was hit by a car in junior high? Like I said, I hate to even ask, but I've been wondering constantly and racking my brain, it's just not coming to me.

Hi Everyone! Most of you probably don't remember me because I was pretty quiet in school. It's pretty bad that we need the yearbook to remember faces after only 15 years. I also had to look at pictures to place faces with names. Some I do remember.

AMANDA- Its funny what you said about Franklin School and the south end of town. My parents were the same way with us. My sister and I weren't allowed near Crites and Maries and if we were my mom would worry the entire time wondering if we were ok. I have two children that go to the new Franklin. Its nowhere near the same. Can you believe that Mrs. Gleason just retired this past Spring? She was the only face there that was a original that I can remember.

I believe the girl that was killed by a car in middle school was Kim Marshall or something like that. Renee was a thin blonde but thats all I remember.

Kebra - Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check that out. I'm glad that you finally got one!

Elizabeth - Sting hunh? I get Brad Pitt a lot but never Sting. Seriously though I've gotten a few Tim Robbins in my time but that's my first Sting... so thanks!

Seth- Oh yes, you look like Sting!!!! LOL

Kebra- Kim Marshall was the one in Junior high that was killed by a car hitting her in a Mc. Donalds parking lot. Renee Murray died in a car crash not long (maybe a year or two) after we graduated. You probably didn't know her because she left school (like me) early. I think she came back to school, and was a year ahead of us, but she graduated in our class. I didn't know David very well, and I'm not sure what happened there, and Scott was a big shocker for me too! I asked about that too, and nobody seemed to know what happened. If you hear would you let us know?

P.S. Tracy I remember you, you were always very nice, and seemed shy, but I remember you well :)

Ok it's the Renee I was thinking of. I didn't know here
last name. Any of you remember Shawn Riddle? He was 2 years ahead of us. He was kinda dating her. Anyway she went to Texas to get him and bring him back to Ohio I think to get some of the last things he had up here.
On the way back down she was doing over the speed limit and one of her tires blew out. A big chunck of tire. Ended up being a tire defect blew a hole through the truck bed and everything. Anyway caused the truck to roll many time. Renee and Shawn where both ejected from the truck. From what Shawn told me she was killed instantly. Shawn was sleeping and the Dr. told him is the reason he lived. I'm thinking it was the summer of 94.

I thought Shawn was driving for some reason. I remember Irvin being really torn up! That was a really sad time. (Didn't we call Shawn Skippy or something?)

Shane Hines

Yep the was his nickname. No he wasn't driving.

10/15/08 07:50 AM #438

Elizabeth Cole (Holcombe)

that was a really sad time! Renee was a sweetheart!

Leslie Riggs (Owens)

Oh yea! I remember that hearing that story too, about Renee. I can't put a face to the name, however. I'm glad that people are working on the yearbook idea. I too would love to see them posted. I know how to scan and do everything, but I don't have a yearbook, go figure! Someone has to get 'er done though, to clear my cobwebs, haha!

BETSY - I remember the McD's parking lot story, and I can still picture her clearly - but I just couldn't come up with the name. I was disturbed by that incident because I had a dream similar to that before it happened - and it was really confusing to me at that age. She never came off as the type to most people - but she was always really nice, and she had just defended me in an argument not longer before. I felt really bad! I too am surprised by and would like to know about Scott, so if I ever hear I'll let you know, and vice versa.

Thanks for the update on all of them - I'm still having a hard time picturing Renee though. I might recognize her if I'd see her, but I just can't place it.

Tracy - I remember you clearly too! Nice to see you here!

Have a good day all!
xoxo

Kim was really nice, and she was sooo funny! I remember going to the movies, and she was sitting in the back row, smoking..... and throwing popcorn and stuff. She was a trip

I remember Kim. She was in my science class (Mr.Goddard)at Central. I remember she sat in the back corner by Denah Coffee. It was really a strange feeling to see her seat empty in that class after the accident. At that age it's hard to wrap your head around that kind of a situation.

Scott Ewing died in a car accident too , from what I have heard. I found a post online and his obituary about a year ago when I heard what happened. It was so sad to hear. Every memory I have of him he had a huge smile on his face. He was a great guy. He always made me laugh in Choir!

Angie Keel (Schnick)

Yea, Scott passed away from a car accident....I am not sure if he was on his way back home from visiting his family here or vise versa but I know that it was a young woman that hit him and I think she was under some sort of substance. I am still sketchy on the details though. He was married and I believe had a baby boy too. I remember Renee from summer school, she seemed really sweet and quiet. I knew about Davids death but don't know how he died and I also remember Tim from school, that was tragic how that went down too. I remember Kim from Junior High, she was really nice but scared the crap out of me lol!!

Leslie Riggs (Owens)

I'm pretty positive that I remember David. He was really quite and just kept to himself. I can't picture him ever smiling much, sadly. I think I might remember what Renee looked like too the more I think of it. She was real thin with white blond hair, right?

Carrie Miller

I remember Irvin Marcum had an eerie picture of Renee hanging up in his livingroom....like her eyes followed you or something. Sounds strange, I know but...
Betsy--you remember that pic don't you? The only time I ever went over there was with you.

Elizabeth Cole (Holcombe)

Carrie, oh my gosh, I never will forget that picture. It was one of her senior pictures, and I told her that while she was still alive, and she laughed and told me that she put it there so she could always "see" what Irvin was up to. Freaky huh
