Comments:

Married Helen Crosby in 1971. We had one child, Stacie. We were divorced in 1980 and later that year I married Denise Porter who is originally from Greer, SC. She worked as a legal assistant for close to 25 years before retiring on disability. I have held various jobs - as an appraiser with the County Assessor's Office; as an insurance salesman with Atlantic Coast Life; as manager of Bishop's Body Shop; as the owner/manager of a waste management company; and most recently as the owner-operator of a truck hauling containers for the Port of Savanah, Ga.

That last forty years have passed so quickly. From 1976-1983 I was the set construction manager for Walterboro's Community theater known as "Variety." My wife, Denise, was a performer from 1977-1983.

From 1983-1988, all of our time was spent building our own home on property across from my parents.

From 1991-1995, we were actively involved with the Band of Blue. I drove one of the buses for the band members and my wife chaperoned. We were honored to serve as participants in fund-raising projects for a trip to the 1995 Rose Bowl Parade and as chaperones for the group.

My wife began have medical problems in 1996 and has had various surgeries, including a mastectomy for breast cancer in 1999. In July, she will be a 10 year survivor!

My wife's invalid mother came from Greer to live with us from 2002 - February, 2008. She died on February 28, 2008.

In addition, much of our time was spent in the 2000's taking care of my parents. My father died in September 2006 and my mother in November 2007.

We have been active in our church, Rice Patch Chistian Church, and served as Youth Leaders for 15 years. We sing in the choir and Denise has taught several Sunday School classes.

We enjoy camping on the Edisto River and travelling, although Canada has been the only out-of-country experience we have had. We would love to see more of the United States.

Our daughter is married to Dwight Vanier, who has been serving in the Navy since his high school graduation. They currently live near Gulfport, MS; and yes, they were greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina. He has a daughter, Brianna, who is now 13. They have no children together. He plans to retire in the Spring.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone. We have only missed one reunion (the last one) and hope to catch up on everybody.

School Story:

I can't compete with you on The Canterbury Tales. Unfortunately, Mrs. VonLehe threw me out of her class for writing a poem on "Hank Revere." I can't recite The Canterbury Tales, but I can remember every word of that poem I wrote.

I didn't participate in the advanced Math classes either. I was given the choice of doing that or driving the Girls' Activity Bus. What would you have done?

I have many good memories of Walterboro and have been pleased to work with many of my classmates on community projects.

Remember - "Never so fine as "'69."
