Edward W. Hitt

Edward W. Hitt, 46, passed away after a short illness, at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2004.  He was predeceased by his father, Meltheor Hitt; brother-in-law, David Watson; and by step-father, F. Gordon Miller. He is survived by son, Jerrod Hitt and Dara Christ, Greene; daughter, Jody Hitt and special grand-daughter, Rylee, Coventry; fiancee, Geraldine Mccarthy, Coventry, and daughters, Marilee, Kelly and Courtney; mother Vivian Miller; brothers and sisters, Fred and Deb Hitt, Tim Hitt and Lorraine Walley, Terry and Shawn Hitt, Rob and Sandi Hitt, Melanie Watson and Scott Davis.  Steve and Kelly Hitt, Lisa and Mark Pierce, Kitty and Jim Smith, Julie and Steve Condon, Tricia and Phil Cole, Betsy and Arnie Drumm, Kristy and Davey Kotorman, Wendy and Mike Layton, Lacey and Cecil Davis; 36 neices and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend and partner, Steve Dutcher. 

Ed was a well respected Chief of Police in Greene, who helped many people throughout the years.  He was an avid Hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed John Deere Tractors.  He was a good father and dedicated grandfather and loved his family.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m.Friday at Zion Episcopal Church, Greene.  Burial in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.  Friends of the family may call Thursday, 6-9 at Root Funeral Home, 23 Chenango St. Greene. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Greene Fire Department or Emergency Squad, 8 N. Canal St., Greene, N.Y. 13778
