I am living in Calverton again and it is wonderful to be back home.

I work for the Department of Conservation and Recreation with 7 local soil and water conservation districts in a 22 county area covering northern Virginia, the northern Shenandoah Valley and the northern Piedmont, working with agriculture programs, grants management, director and staff training, budgets and cost share programs. After attending Virginia Tech I returned to Fauquier County. I taught for two years, then joined State Government where I have been since 1985

I work with Jay Marshall so his smiling face is one of the first I see each morning. Becky Edwards Embrey and I are still very close friends and talk often. I have enjoyed catching up with Roy Crane and keeping in touch with Ross Bryant. I would love to catch up with Yvette Morton, Jeff Hyatt and so many more old friends. My strongest role model teachers were Alan Burho, Carol Chick, Ben McCartney and Mr. Jacobs. I wish I could have connected with my students they way they connected with me.

How about Mrs. Ritchie's Chemistry class? That was one hard class. I thought she was the meanest teacher and I was afraid of her, but as it turned out she was a really good teacher. We tend to remember the hard ones because they prepared us for the future.
