Chester "Paul" Brown died Thursday, January 6, 2011 from complications of double pneumonia at Legacy Meridian Park Hospital, Tualatin, OR, at age 68. Paul was born October 30, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the only child of Theodora Magee and Chester Brown. He graduated from Warsaw High School in Indiana and attended Indiana University. He served four years in the United States Navy during the Vietman War. His ashes are interred at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
Paul was the owner and manager of the A&W Restaurant in Idaho Springs, Colorado for 22 years. After retiring he worked at Coors Field as a guest attendant for the Colorado Rockies. Since moving to Portland, Oregon in 2004, he has been a guest attendant at the Rose Garden Arena and enjoyed immensely greeting the many guests coming to the Trailblazers' home games. During that time he also was a volunteer for the State of Oregon, serving as an advocate for patients in long-term care facilities.
Paul married Shirley Hook on September 30, 1966 at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Paul is survived by his wife and two daughters, Brenda Carlson and Jill Sage. A great joy in his life was his three grandchildren: Benjamin Sage, Gabriella Carlson, and Maddox Sage.
Being from Indiana, Paul was an avid sports fan, especially basketball. Paul was a great dog lover, and he always had at least one or two dogs as his constant companions throughout his adult life.
A military interment service was held for immediate family at Willamette National Cemetery and a public memorial service was held at the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living in Lake Oswego, OR.

I can still see Paul and Frank Grose walking down the hall, Paul rocking East to West, Frank rocking North to South. They were a pair. So sorry Paul never made it back to a class reunion.
