Brenda Jean Whitaker, 64, of Pierceton, died at 10:35 a.m. Oct. 31, 2007 , in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

She was born April 14, 1943, in Warsaw, to Cy and Dorothy Nice Turner.  On Oct. 2, 1982, in Silver Lake, she married Ron Whitaker, who survives.

Brenda was owner of BJ Country Oak for 14 years.  She was past president of Pierceton Chamber of Commerce; organizer of the Pierceton Festival for 14 years; and Citizen of the Year in Pierceton in 1994.

Also surviving are four sons:  Brooks (and wife Liz) Walls, Burket; Breck (and wife Trudy) Walls and Blair (and wife Stephanie) Walls, both of Pierceton; Blake (and wife Tammy) Walls, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Rene and Carrie; and a brother, Jerry Turner, North Ridgeville, Ohio.  She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Art and John Turner.

Brenda was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
