Larry W. Holmes, 66, of Warsaw, died at 8 a.m. March 29, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Nov. 2, 1940, in Durham, N.C., at Duke University Hospital, to J. Warnel and Mary Catherine Farrow Holmes. On Dec. 10, 1960, at the First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, he married Nancy Longfellow, who survives.

A 1960 Warsaw High School graduate , he began his real estate career in 1961 in Maryland and Washington, D.C., while attending Ben Franklin University . In 1968, he became active as a real estate broker in Warsaw and established Larry Holmes & Associates Real Estate & Insurance Inc. He served as the president of the Kosciusko County Board of Realtors from 1992-93, and was realtor of the year in 1996. He was a state honor realtor in 1993. He was active in numerous committees on both the state and local levels. During his term as president of the Kosciusko County Board of Realtors, they won many prestigious state awards, which included a first-time-ever award as an Honor Board. He won several awards in insurance sales and was named to the Prudential President's Citation Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. He held his pilot's license and was a past member of the Mentone Flying Club, Shrine Mini Bike Patrol, and also enjoyed sailing and golf. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge 73, Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne Mispah Shrine Temple and the past president of the Kosciusko County Shrine Club.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Tim (Laura) Jansma; a son, Brad; three grandchildren: Ashley Newton, Nicholas Newton and Brandon Holmes; and a great-grandchild, Zebadiah Newton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Warsaw with Pastor David Heim officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home with a Masonic Lodge Service at 7:30 p.m.
