Neil and I hung out quite a bit in Junior and Senior year. Nearly every day in Sr year we would try to hitch a ride from Carroll and save our bus tickets. Usually we could catch a ride with someone in our class who had a car -- often is was with Harry Basiliko when he had that great looking black Ford (?) convertable -- get dropped off somewhere than hitchhike our way out toward the District Line at Georgia and Alaska Ave to catch a bus, him to Kensington and me to Four Corners.
I remember him as a really nice kid, but after graduating completely lost track of him, only to discover after registering for the reunion that Neil had passed away -- evidently at a very young age. Such a shame, was looking forward to renewing an old friendship long lost.
Neil and myself, went on to attend Benjamin Franklin University, in downtown D.C. We rode together on the bus to school many times and always had a few laughs. He was always more focused on his studies, a lot more than me. I was always working my ass off in my spare time. He got married later, then moved to Annapolis where I kind of lost touch. When I got back from Florida one winter, I called him and he had passed from a heart attack after just riding his bike. I was devasted. I believe we were 50 at that time. He's one friend I will always remember.
