Rebecca Claire Brooks 

February 21, 1953 - August 10, 2024

Rebecca “Becky” Claire Matkins Brooks, age 71, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday August 10, 2024 at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday August 16, 2024 at Old Ford Church of Christ and will be officiated by Reggie Braziel.

The family will receive friends 12:00 PM Friday August 16, 2024 at Old Ford Church of Christ and other times at the home of her brother, Phillip Matkins.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Beaufort County on February 21, 1953 to the late John Fred Matkins and Cornelia Leggette Matkins. She worked at Washington Jewelers in her younger years and she enjoyed caring for others in her later years. She loved gardening and cooking.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Sanderson and wife Faith, one grandchild, two brothers, John Fred Matkins, Jr and wife Martha, Phillip Matkins and wife Brenda, and several nieces and nephews, and two special friends, James and Robin Baker and Marla Harris.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bod Brooks and a daughter Rachel Sanderson.
