Steve Bartlett

Steven K. Bartlett
March 30, 1948 ~ December 16, 2018
Steve left us on December 16, 2018. His departure was much too soon. He will be deeply missed and his absence will leave a tremendous hole in our lives. He was a cherished husband, brother, father uncle, grandfather & friend. He was born to Frank and Beverly Bartlett in Ogden, Utah on March 30, 1948. He married his beautiful and loving wife Tracey in June of 1981, a loving relationship of 37 years.
Steve was a graduate of the University of Utah, and was an avid Utes fan… GO UTES!!! He loved his work as a public servant, especially his long career in law enforcement. Over the years Steve worked as a ski patrol officer, paramedic, Sandy City Police reserve officer, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office where he was honored to have served on the elite motor squad and the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office where he was Assistant Chief Investigator. He retired from the DA's office in 2008. Steve was past president and a long- standing member of the American Polygraph Association. He was proud to be an American, proud of his country and those who serve.
Steve was passionate about his Harley motorcycle, traveling all across these great United States and the many adventurous trips to Sturgis with his buddy, Scott. Steve was obsessively organized, thoughtful, kind, and generous; a good neighbor, and a tireless and selfless friend. Steve always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell, often sending comical and off-color emails. He often had an overwhelming urge to send letters to the editor regarding Utah's liquor laws and legislative morality. Steve was always the consummate host, especially at his Champagne & Chocolate parties. He loved to travel, most especially with his wife, their extended family and their many friends. Many great memories were made at the family cabin, ""Camp Ugly"". He was a loyal member of the ""Lynch Mob"" and his favorite destination was the Caribbean on Windjammer cruises. Steve had many four-legged members of his family that he loved and pampered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tracey; son, Chad (Amy); grandsons Kyle, Bridger, Jaden, Paxton; his brother, Dr. Scott Bartlett (Kimberly); sister, Vicki Ausmus (Danny); sister-in-law, Tami Gladstone (Tom); best friend and brother-in-law, Wayne Joseph (Katrina); and his beloved niece and nephew, Brooklyn (currently serving in the Middle East), and Jeric (actively serving in the U.S. Military).
A celebration of Steve's life, where all friends and family are invited, will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building. The family has asked guests to wear their U of U, Harley Davidson, Lynch mob (you know who you are) or Hawaiian/Caribbean casual attire for the evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5th at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 East Creek Road in Sandy where a viewing will be held 30 minutes prior to the Mass. The rite of Catholic committal and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street. Per Steve's wishes, not to be sad or disheartened by his death, one hell of a party celebration will take place following the burial at Heritage Gardens, 2050 East Creek Road, Sandy.
