After many years of battling illness, Julie Lyn Steed Hansen passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2015, with her Sweetheart – Reed M. Hansen – by her side.

,Julie was born on July 21, 1948 in Ogden, Utah. She attended Weber State University where she met the love of her life – Reed M. Hansen. Reed proposed and the two of them have made beautiful music together for 46 years. Reed and Julie were married on May 31, 1968, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Julie had a tremendous love for children. She worked for approximately 18 years as a teaching assistant for preschool children with disabilities through the Uintah School District. Julie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent her life serving her brothers and sisters in her ward and her community in every way she could.

Julie left a legacy of love, service, compassion, and joy. After spending several years gracing the stage in musical productions, Julie turned her attention to teaching and vocal coaching. Julie has taught numerous voice students throughout her life. As a vocal coach, Julie was an integral member of the production team at Uintah High School while Reed was teaching. This incredibly talented team created numerous musicals that the Vernal community enjoyed for many years. Through her incredible gift of music, she not only taught her students to sing, but she also taught them important life lessons.

When Julie and Reed came to Vernal, Julie agreed to come for six months. Those six months became 46 years of loving and serving the Uintah Basin community. Julie was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Beulah Steed. She is survived by her husband, Reed M. Hansen; her two daughters, Krista H.
