10 Year Class Reunion - 2011
Posted Thursday, February 25, 2010 01:45 PM

All,

This website was created as a tool to share information regarding our class reunions as well as provide everyone an opportunity to catch back up with classmates that they haven't seen or heard from in a while (I know facebook is a good tool but this is exclusively for the class of 2001).

It is my hope that we will continue using this website for years to come to plan reunions as well as stay in contact with one another as our lives continue changing.   Please feel free to contact me, Miriam M., Leslie F., or Kaleb R. with any recommendations/requests for when and where you would like to have our reunion.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all at the reunion in 2011.

Justin Cook

Hey guys

Just a little FYI, Pisgah just had their 2001 10 year list past weekend during the Pisgah vs. Tuscola football game. I look forward to ours because I haven't seen many of my old class mates since HS.

Take Care

Hey guys,

Me and Stephanie(Lanning) Gunter, were discussing this past weekend that maybe we could have the reunion somewhere like Hurley's in Maggie or at the Gateway Club up in Waynesville. Just passing out suggestions! The website is great by the way. Hope everyone is doing great!!

Hey Kelsey,

We appreciate your and Stephanie's input...we did check into the Gateway Club but we thought that it might cost a little more than we wanted to ask people to pay.   We are trying to plan for a huge turnout but at the same time keeping the cost as low as possible.  Please feel free to continue to offer suggestions as we are still in the planning stages.  Thanks for using the website.  Hope you are doing well.  Thanks again!

Option picnic somewhere that morning for all to come and bring families and then dinner, drink and music somewhere else like ex. My mom and dad had theirs at Smokey mnt lodge in maggie a couple years back the had open bar bbq and more buffett style and a live band. That would b fun. Just a thought. Picnic like camp daniel boone, lake logan, catalochee, ect.

Like the Camp Daniel Boone option, but I don't think they would be up for the use of Alcohol on the premises. Justin you probably have already checked, but what would the Waynesville Country Club charge per head, they do have full ABC permits and can cater food, parking is ample, location i centralized, and atmosphere are all good there. I know its gonna be a little pricey, but I went to a wedding there not long ago and I think it averaged $20 a head, or could just do it at the milk barn Laura, think Bo and Tootsie could swing it one last time?

Micah i thank the milk barn is a great idea!!!! LMAO! I thank they would love to swing it with us one more time! I thank the last time i was at the milk barn was our graduation night and the cops showed up and tootsie went to the bridge and blocked it with that gator. Remember. Man we had some days! Now having two kids of my own i look bakc and wonder man how did our parents survive us and how lucky we all were for not still being in jail. LOL We had some good times didnt we.

Remember the chase down between Jeremy and Beth and we ended up at that officers house up the road before mine to save me i cant remember his name. K-9 unit for maggie at the time. LOL

I cant wait to see everyone 10 years later. It it will b fun! We had better start early because u know how we get when we are all together. We better have a back up plan for when they run us off. LOL

Cant wait. Justin, we are good with where ever but like micah Michael and I went to a function at the Waynesville Country Cllub and it was like 25 or something a head. I just dont know how long we they would let us stay or what time they close.

Also bands???? It would be cool to have Josh's band play i thank that would be his descion but that would be really neat.

OK...it seems that we need to expedite the planning for the events for Saturday evening.   I am not at all opposed to doing something more formal on Saturday before the proposed "late night" field party.   Keep in mind that our class does not currently have any funds that would allow us to reserve a place that requires a deposit, etc.  That being said, I would like to make sure that we will have enough people willing to pay more money and pay it early in order to make this happen.

We can always go dutch at a restaurant/bar but if the idea is more along the lines of renting a place out solely for the reunion and paying to have a bartender and a band/dj then I would suggest that we make sure we have "buy-in" from a majority of the people planning to attend the reunion before we make any solid plans.

Please consider this email a "filler" so please provide a response to the following:

1)  Would you like to have something formal on Saturday evening?  (Yes/No).  If No, skip the remaining questions.

2)  Would you like to go dutch to a place that would potentially take reservations for a large group or would you rather have a place rented out for our reunion?

3)  If you would like to have a place rented out...would you like to pay to have the bar available and would you like to have music (live band or DJ)?

Also...If you are willing to do so I would greatly appreciate any help in planning (researching prices/locations, etc.) should the majority decide on having a formal event.

Thanks,

Justin

Yes.

A place that can be rented out.

Yes and yes.

Absolutely willing to help! If you delegate what I can do to help, I will do it.

Thanks Justin!

Again Justin I am up for whatever is decided, however due to the time frame of Oct. 1, I am afraid that the weather might be a gamble for an outside event. I also agree with others that it would be nice to see everyone without the stress of them trying to keep up with their children, and I am sure the parents among us would like an evening to theirselves. anyway I am still available to help out with whatever decisions are made.

Ok - Yes I would like to have something formal/adults only.

-I would like to rent someplace specifically for our reunion

-I would like to have a bar/alcohol and music available and am willing to pay.

I called a few places today. The 3rd Generation Barn Loft. Their website is http://3gbarnloft.com/. It is $115 for a 4 hour block and $95 for each additional 4 hr block after that. They also require a $90 cleanup fee. They allow alcohol but do not provide it so it would be BYOB. They have space to set up food if we wanted to hire a caterer or like Justin has suggested have BBQ and the fixings. They have tables and chairs available. They also allow you to hire a band/DJ and tables can be arranged to accommodate a dance floor. They have a fee for bringing in a caterer, alcohol and DJ, I didn't enquire about it but if it is along the lines of the rent it seems to be reasonable.

They are booked for Oct. 1st but have other dates available if we have any flexibility on the date.

I also called Maggie Valley Country Club. It is $500 for 4 hrs. and I called The Smokey Falls Lodge, they were very reasonable, $100 to rent the room including having a bar tender, but the max they could accommodate was 75 people.
