Don Beeler

Following graduation from WGHS I attended TCU in Ft. Worth, Texas where I received both my BA and MBA degrees. I served in the Army Reserves as a field medic and later as an MSC officer prior to attending Trinity University in San Antonio where I received my MS degree in healthcare administration. I subsequently completed my required year-long residency at Santa Rosa Hospital (San Antonio) where I began a very rewarding 38 year long career in hospital/healthcare administration with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio and Houston, sponsors of CHRISTUS Health.



My last 7 years were spent at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, where I both began and ended my healthcare career, separated by service as an EVP in a startup corporate office in SA, COO in Beaumont, CEO in Texarkana and ending as CEO at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, from which I retired in February 2010. While filled with many challenges, my career in healthcare administration was complete with many rewards, most of all the terrific individuals and colleagues I had the privilege of working with, not the least of which were the religious sponsors of the system(s) in which I served. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of serving on countless professional and community boards throughout my career and was honored to receive the Earl Collier Award for Administrative Excellence from the Texas Hospital Association and the Star Award from the THA HOSPAC in 2010.



While most of my time has been filled with family and my career, we have enjoyed extensive traveling both internationally and throughout the U.S. We are long time ticket season holders for TCU football games and are rabid San Antonio Spur fans. And I still enjoy my annual downhill skiing trips that help “keep me in shape”. My hope and prayer for the future is that my family can continue to enjoy the wonderful heath that we’ve been blessed with and that we have the opportunity to see our grandsons, and hopefully other grandchildren grow into young adults. Virginia and I continue to be active in the same church where we were married 48 years ago as well as on numerous NFP boards where I continue my service to our city.
