Howard A. Latta Scholarship Fund

Our class recently presented a plaque to WGHS to commemorate our participation in the Howard A. Latta Scholarship Fund.  Our class established this fund in 1968!!!  We also donated  $ 1000  from our left-over funds from our 50th reunion.  Donations to this non-profit fund can be made at any time.  To learn more about this fund and the lasting legacy left by our class, visit the following link.

Pictures from the July 31, 2021 WGHS '68 informal get-together at Llewelyn's in Webster have been uploaded to the website but i had to put them in the 1968 and prior photo gallery because there was no way to add them that i could find to get them in the 2019+ gallery.

I heard from Mr. Tompkins' niece Saturday (12/19/20) evening that Mr. Tompkins passed away Friday (12/18/20) morning.

Thomas Christman passed away on the 5th of July. He lived in Port Angeles, Washingtom.

We have been notified of the passing on Conrad Jacob on August 15. Our sympathy to his family and friends. Notice posted by the funeral home is reproduced below:


Mr. Conrad John Jacob, Jr., age 68 of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Covenant United Methodist Church, 4336 King Springs Road, Smyrna, GA. The Reverend David Moore, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Jacob was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and received a degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He was retired from Nat Sherman Tobacco Company as a regional sales manager. Mr. Jacob volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years, formerly worked with UMCOR at the local warehouse and enjoyed working at polling places during elections. He is survived by his wife Sandy Hilton-Jacob, of Smyrna; son Michael Conrad Jacob (Christa) of Irvine, CA: daughter Lisa Rae Jacob Sexton (Tony) of Bethesda, MD; stepsons, Troy Scott Hilton of Hamilton, GA; Jamey Ryan Hilton (Rhianna) of Pine Mountain, GA; grandchildren Emery Nichole and Paige Michele Jacob, Irvine, CA. Grandchildren, Christopher Austin Hilton (Paulina), great-grandson Liam Mason Hilton of Fort Hood, Texas; Avery Lee Hilton, of Waverly Hall, GA; Hailey Ryan Hilton, of Birmingham, AL; Jacob Riley Hilton of Pine Mountain, GA. Peyton Elizabeth Hilton, Columbus, GA. Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna is in charge of arrangements. 770-435-4467 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or to the Covenant United Methodist Church Building Fund in his memory and honor.

It is with great sorrow that I let you know about the passing of Michael Manhanke. He passed away on Thursday, August 22nd. Mike talked about seeing many of his classmates at the 50th reunion. He was a great friend and a wonderful human being. He will be dearly missed. Visitation from 2:30 - 4:00 PM on Monday at Oak Hill Chapel and Cemetery. Service at 4:00 PM.
