After looking at the class website, I remembered that I have several news clippings about James Holman's death in 1987. I tucked them away inside the sleeve of my Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here" album (yes I still have ALL of my old vinyl... lol). His death left a lasting memory because we were friends and he died on my 16th birthday. I'm not sure if you went to the funeral or not, but I remember the line of cars went on for miles from the funeral home to the cemetery. It was something I will never forget. I have scanned the items I have so you can put them on the site. Or you can use them for the 20 year reunion, whichever you want. I'm glad I had something to contribute since I probably won't be able to attend the reunion. :)
I remember being in Junoir high Math classes with James. He was popular with classmates. What stuck with me was that his life was snuffed out before his time.
I still remember this like it happened yesterday. I saw it on the news the Sunday night he died. Every time I hear Pink Floyd I think of James. He was always asking for paper from me in every class we had together. My mom went and bought him 2 packages of paper our 8th grade year for him. He laughed every time we took a quiz together from then on. That was the first big tragedy we all went through together. Now, I think we all realize how precious our friendships are and how important it is we learn to stay in touch. He was a good guy that I'll never forget.
