Mike Macias was a dear friend of mine in high school. We called him "Messy" Macias...who knows why because he always was neat and well kept! I married him one year at a Sadie Hawkins dance.
I had the honor of attending his celebration of life party, which was held while he was still living...He wanted to be there to see his friends one last time. :) Everyone was asked to prepare a little something to say about the memories or silly, goofy times we spent together. I knew I could not speak, without choking up, so I took my trusty autoharp and played and sang a few doo-wop songs from our era. We laughed and cried together.
It was a beautiful day and many of our "Rat Pack" friends were there to share it!
Love you Mike...miss you always. ♥ Mackie
Mike and I played baseball together in Pony League and Colt League. At our 40th reunion we had such a good time. He kept telling me of his memories of when we played ball against each other. He remembers hitting a home run while I was pitching and I never saw a ball go so far after being hit. I kept telling him he didn't hit a home run off a pitcher but hit his home run off a catcher who was pitching. Couldn't believe it when I heard Mike had passed away. The man had a big heart and sence of humor second to none. May you rest in peace my good friend.........................Pete Ashlock
To be completely accurate about Mr. Mike Macias nickname, as I remember many of us called him "Messyass" only done as a play on his last name. As I recall, after a while he took it all with good grace and realized it was all in fun. Sharyn Oberly Mello
I go all the way back to grade school with "Messyass Macias" He was always a cheerful comedian. We could really tear the cover off the softball in 8th grade. Anyone remember Mr. Brady? He was our 8th grade teacher, a full blooded Cherochee Indian from Oklahoma. I recall Mike being a wild dancer at the sock hops. The world will miss him. Rest in peace Mike.
