In Memoriam

Sr Margaret (Peggy) Clarke,OSF (Faculty -Art) (Van Brunt) VIEW PROFILE

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the loss of our dear Peggy Clarke Van Brunt.

Stella DeVenuta OSF received this news on Auguast 2nd from Peg's husband, Peter:

"Peg died on the morning of August 2nd, 2022 at 4:15  AM in hospice." Peter and Peg's sister were with her. "She died within 2 hours of the administration of morphine to ease her discomfort. Peg had COPD and contracted Pneumonia four times this past year. Her kidneys were failing and her heart finally gave out."

Stella was so grateful to have found Peg through the help of one of her former academy students and had since stayed closely connected via text and calls.

Four of our classmates, were Peg's Art stars...two iconagraphers, an abstract Painter, and a weaver ; namely: Stella Devenuta. Barbara Wampole, Pat Catlet, and Stephanie Morton. They were blessed to have had little art ZOOM reunions over the past five months!   During those video meetings they were each able to share with Peg the major impact she had on them as “creatives.”

Stella had a gut feeling Peg would not be here for long. Along with the deep sadness of losing Peg is gratitude "to Spirit that we had the last few months with her to rekindle our care & friendship!"

Please keep Peter and Pegs family in your prayers. Pray for her “art kids” as they hold her close in presence with deeply hurting hearts.

Rest in peace dear Peg.

She was an inspiring person and teacher, and her encouragement led me to many creative paths in life - to passions I still persue today. I will never forget her kindness, her brillance, her enthusiasm for life. May she rest in peace, and may that peace now embrace those who mourn her loss.

I was very sad to learn of Sister Margarets' passing. I had her in freshman year Art class. I was so enthralled by her beautiful face and spirit! She must have been on of the youngest Francisican sisters on the staff.I think she must have been 24 or 25 years old when she was at St. John's. She inspired me whenever we had to do a art project. She would look at the artwork,I did, and made suggestions in the most non critical way! She had a terrific eye, and personality. May she rest in everlasting peace. And may the peace of our Lord be with her loving family.
