I remember him from the band. If memory serves me, he died in a private plane crash during freshman year a Dartmouth. I recall going to the shiva around the end of fall semester. Tragic.
Charlie did pass in a private plane accident. He was flying to Schectady NY early morning and the pilot of the small plane crashed into a small mountain obscured by fog/clouds.
Thanks Steve and Stephen, for filling in the details of that tragedy. I had seen Charlie (and in fact met the pilot, as he was a close friend of Charlie's) shortly before the accident when I travelled up to Dartmouth with the Yale Precision Marching Band (that's what it was called).
50 Years ago November 18, 1973 Charlie passed away suddenly in a tragic plane crash. Not only were we neighbors but good friends (even shared our bar mitzvahs together). The last time I saw him was at his grandparents home in Newton, MA celebrating Rosh Hoshana in 73. I stilI wonder what Charlie would be doing with his life, my guess a CEO, lawyer, politician... His father and 2 of his older brothers were doctors, it didn't appear he was headed down that path. Lots of fond memories...
Charley was just a really nice guy. I remember him well, along with you, Burt. We were in so many classes together, calc, chem study, etc., has hoped to see you at the reunion. Saw Steve. Susan, I don't think I saw you. Saw Jonathan Bagger. 50 years...wow. Feeling every year of it! Hope all are doing well. Am here in Branford,Ct. ChipDanker@gmail.com

My memory of Charlie is that he was quietly brilliant. No doubt he would have achieved great things. A loss beyond words.
