In Memory

Barbara Glajsek (Dovale)

Our parents let us go, and then there comes a time when we have to let them go.  Both my parents passed away this year—John on January 9 and my mother on July 19, exactly one week before my 35th birthday.  My father passed suddenly, and my mother passed after battling a recurrence of terminal metastatic cancer for more than two years.
.
My parents loved each other and their family.  They were married and best friends for more than 45 years.  My mom was a gifted crocheter and a great listener; she modeled consideration of others and instilled in me an enduring love of reading.  My dad was an ex-Marine and Vietnam Vet; he took me to the hardware store like I was a son and taught me about compound interest.  My parents imparted many gifts, laughed an awful lot, and made me laugh an awful lot.  They did their best, and they lived and loved with vigor and intentionality applied with Midwestern consistency.
.
Barb and John, rest easefully in the love and light that is your home. This butterfly loves and remembers you.  Thanks you.  Honors you.
