I am saddened to read of Marcia's passing.  We had many good times together in high school and I remember visitng her at her nursing school.  I lost touch with her after college but she was a lovely person.

Marcia, DeeDee Rooney Tonder, Ann Patterson Gibson,  Sheila Murnane Cumberworth, and I stayed in touch after high school.  We didn't see a lot of each other, but we knew we were there.  In our late 50s we started having retreats; the first one was at Ann's house in Winona, and it involved a weekend of celebrating the poet Robert Burns's birthday. 🎉 Yes, really! We drank scotch and read poetry and laughed.

Another was the winter we all turned 60 and we spent a long weekend at my mother's house in AZ.  This was in 2007, and at that time Marcia knew something was wrong. For that one we featured martinis and no poetry but still plenty of laughter.

We also spent a long weekend at Marcia's cabin in Nisswa a year or so later, and by then we knew her diagnosis.

Marcia was a friend from Bellaire School, and remained one until today.  She was sunshine personified.

I was saddened to hear of Marcia's passing.  I only remember her from school in the later years.   She was always such a kind, gracious person.   Always cheerful and in good humor.   Even though I haven't seen her in many years I feel sad to hear of her diagnosis and  death.  Life is so short, we never know when our time is next.  Sending hugs to all who knew her well.

What can I say, this is the smile that got to me for well over a half a century. Marcia was truly an extraordinary person and I feel so fortunate to have had such special memories with her while maintaining that friendship over those so quickly passing years.  I will never forget her as I am sure can be said by so many.

I fondly remember Marcia.   I went on my first "date" with her (9th grade at Sunrise Park Junior High, age 15).  We went to the old bowling alley in downtown White Bear; we met there since neither of us could drive then.   We remained good friends throughout HS.  When I was at St. Olaf and she was a nursing student, she used to come with friends to Marguerite's Bar in Dundas, where I introduced her to my then-future wife Sylvia.  Marcia was a force of nature! It was a blessing to have known her.  Dick Rortvedt

I was blessed to have known Marcia for about 55 years...as most of you have.  She was my very favorite dancing partner for any fast song...whether it was a cha.cha, twist or any "regular" fast dancing, I always looked for her.  I was very blessed to visit Marcia quite often these last few years and was doubly blessed to see her less than a week before she passed.  I am honored to have Jill Wiegand Sievers in my life as I told Jill that it was too hard on me to see Marcia by myself as she was slipping away and I asked Jill to come with me to visit Marcia a little over a week ago.  Jill jumped at the request and didn't hesitate one second to say yes.  I didn't think I was strong enough to visit on my own as Marcia was so quickly slipping away, and it was killing me to watch my friend Marcia not able to feed herself, handle utensils, or do basic life functions.  Thank yous go to Patty Swanson, Jill Sievers, Jeff Oestrich, D.D. Rooney, Bob Magnuson and others who reached out to Marcia these last few years.  Kim

I know many others were helping Marcia these last several years as well....Ann Patterson, Sally Saxton, to mention a couple

It just saddens me that Marcia, who was SO full of life, was hit by this horrendous disease. That energetic personality and the smile you could never forget is a loss for everyone. And that face...how could you not adore her? I have been to the 25th reunion and the 50th. At the 25th Marcia and I reconnected...and giggled throughout the program. We got "ssshhh's" much the way we did in high school. LOL (Ask us if we cared?)  I remember going out to Embers for a burger with her and Linda Sperry at 1:00a just for old times sake. Best of times!

I have been SO lucky in my life to be around such fun loving talented people. I just hope it will continue for a very long time even with distance between us.
