Yes, I feel the same even though I didn't know her very well. That is one reason why I am curious about what our classmates have died from. I'm sure cancer has run rampant.
Because my last name and Carol's began with W, she usually sat right behind me in any class we had together. I met Carol in 5th grade at Lincoln School. She was the best jump-roper I had ever seen ! She would wear the prettiest crinolin dresses most every day and I would have given anything to have dresses like she wore. I went to a birthday party at her house - it was either 5th or 6th grade - and her mom had us play spin the bottle ! I was scared at that party ....I was so happy to go home ! It was Carol that gave me the most information about boys - that scared me too ! I felt Carol was years ahead of most girls in our class. When I heard she had brain cancer, I felt so sorry for her. I really had never known anyone with cancer before that. Carol made it to one of our reunions. I believe it was at our very first one in Hudson, Wisconsin. She had a hard time remembering names of classmates, but I know she had a great time dancing. When Carol died, I went to her funeral. I walked up to the casket and saw her in a beautiful dress - just like the ones she wore in elementary school. She looked like a princess. It was a very sad time for her mother and father. They loved Carol so much.

I remember Carol and what a beautiful girl she was and I felt so bad hearing that she died at such a young age. She was a very nice person.
