Donald A. “Beef” Ripley, age 62 of Janesville died on Monday at Alden Meadow Park Nursing Home. He was born in Whitewater, WI on February 12, 1954, the son of the late James and Lois (Culton) Ripley. Don graduated from Whitewater High School and later married Jody L. Churchill. Don worked for over 35 years at Hanson Pipe and Precast in South Beloit, IL, retiring in 2014 due to declining health. “Beef” was a nickname Don had since he was a young child and it carried on into his adult life. Don was a proud Chicago Bears fan and a practical jokester who enjoyed playing jokes on his friends and family. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, bow hunting, fishing, and camping. One of his most memorable hunting experiences was hunting wild boar in Florida. He is survived by his wife: Jody; three children: Courtney (Donte) Conley, Aaron (Dana) Ripley and Blake (Bailey) Ripley all of Janesville; 17 grandchildren and one on the way. He is further survived by his siblings: Lonnie Ripley of Whitewater, Mike Ripley of Whitewater, James (Dixie) Ripley of Elkhorn and Leanne (Bob) Breckler of Defiance, OH. He is further survived by his mother-in-law: Pat Churchill of Janesville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Debbie and Charlie Stanfley of Orlando, FL, Linda and J.R. Wilson of Milton, WI, and Brett and Shelley Churchill of Orlando, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law: Roger Churchill. A Celebration Honoring Don’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Whitcomb – Lynch Funeral Home. Everyone is requested to bring a favorite memory of Don to share and to wear camouflage or hunting attire.
