Mark Lawson Carter, 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. A service to celebrate his life was held Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Heritage Assembly of God, Wichita Falls, Texas.. Mark was born on March 8, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Alton and Sue Carter. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1971. He was a loyal Coyote fan who enjoyed each moment, from his Wolfpack football days through his high school football days to cheering each Coyote season as a grown man. WFHS is where he met the love of his life, Myrna, and where they began dating at age 14. Mark and Myrna were married on January 22, 1971, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Over the years, Mark was employed by Ron Roberts Ford, Wichita Falls Ford, and Pruitt Ford of Burkburnett. He was especially thankful for his time and relationships with the Pruitt Ford family.
His faith and family were his utmost priorities. Mark enjoyed ushering at church, watching sporting events, and had a huge giving heart, always thinking of others before himself. He will be missed by many.
Mark is survived by his wife of 44 years, Myrna Bearden Carter of Wichita Falls; his daughter, Stacia Haney and husband, Jasyn of Sherman, Texas, along with their children, Carter, Makayla, Jadyn and Lawson; parents, Alton and Sue Carter of Wichita Falls, Texas; brother, Victor and his wife, Ruby of Katy, Texas; sister-in-law, Sue and her husband, Kenny of Zebulon, North Carolina; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also mentored Roary McClain of Washington, who became like a son to the family, as well as his wife, Amy and their children.
The family would like to express our gratitude to local physicians, Dr. Francis Yap and Dr. Rafael Rivera for their involvement in helping Mark. Special thanks to the excellent physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and techs at William P. Clements University Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
