Cherri Ann Bitz, 58, went to be with the Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, after a 6 year battle with breast cancer.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Hampton Vaughan Chapel.

Cherri was born on December 19, 1949, to Troy and Bettie Baker in Wichita Falls, TX. She married Stephen Bitz on February 26, 1972, in Wichita Falls, TX.

She graduated from Midwestern University in 1973 with a degree in Medical Technology and worked at General Hospital. In 1987 she received her teacher’s certificate and taught at Wichita Falls High School for 15 years. She received Teacher of the year honors in 1992 and an award for her service to teaching in 1993.

She was a member of AAVW, Criterion Club, Retired Teachers Association and Breast Cancer Support Group.

She was preceded in death by her mother Bettie Baker.

Mrs. Bitz is survived by her husband Stephen Bitz, son and daughter in-law Greg and Shelly Bitz of Wichita Falls, TX. Daughter Stephanie Bitz of Portland, OR., Her Dad Troy Baker of Waurika, OK., two grandchildren Matthew and Ashley Bitz. Brothers and sisters-in-law Tommy and Christy Baker of Wichita Falls, TX. and Larry and Donna Baker of Waurika, OK. Two nieces Megan and husband Robbie Graham of Lubbock, TX. And Katelyn Baker of Wichita TX. Nephew Kyle Baker of Waurika, OK. Three nieces and 2 two step-nieces.
