William Steve Long

William Steve Long, 72 of Wichita Falls passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

 

Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Tenth and Broad Church of Christ with Mr. Larry Suttle officiating. Steve will be placed to rest at Gilliland Cemetery in Gilliland, Texas.

 

Steve was born on February 18, 1950 to the late Chester and Irene (Baker) Long in Wichita Falls. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1968 and furthered his education at Midwestern University, obtaining his BA in Sociology in 1973. Steve married Pamela Sue Davis on November 26, 1976 in Wichita Falls. Steve worked in the Texas oil industry in various positions for 28 years and for the State of Texas in various positions and as a Legal Guardianship Staff for 20 years, until retiring in 2016.

 

Steve was a member of Tenth and Broad Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, guns and collecting Southwest (American Indian) pottery and rugs. Steve will be missed by many family and friends.

 

Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Margaret Long Moyne and a nephew, Eric Sean Moyne.

 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pamela Long of Wichita Falls; two sons, Jason William Long and wife Akiko of Frankfort, Kentucky and Justin Robert Long of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother, Robert Long and wife, Wanda; two nieces, Lee Ann Cude and husband Aaron, and Lisa Huitt and husband Hutch; niece, Dawn Black; and several great nieces and nephews.
