Ralph E. Surles, 59, of Holliday, Texas passed away Friday, September 10, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Holliday, 403 South College Ave. with Darryl Sewell and Clint Sissom of Cross Country Church in Holliday officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ralph was born to Odies W. and Sally Surles in Ft. Knox, Kentucky and they moved to this area where he has resided most of his life, 34 years in Holliday. He married Debbie Thompson in Wichita Falls on November 6, 1970. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Holliday. Among Ralph’s endeavors was owner and operator of Amsco Steel, the oil business and ranching. He was a 32nd degree mason with membership first in the Dundee Lodge and then Faith Lodge #1158 AF & AM. Also, he was a member of Maskat Temple and was the first captain of the Maskat Shrine Mounted Patrol which re-organized in 1976. Ralph was devoted to serving God and his family and was a caretaker of many and a saint among men.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Holliday; mother, Sally Surles of Wichita Falls; daughters, Jolene Carroll and husband, Larry and Lesli Surles; grandchildren, Morgan Jo Carroll, Olivia Eran Carroll and Brooklyn Rayne Surles, all of Wichita Falls; brothers, Coy O. Surles, Ft. Worth, Willie Surles, Longview, and Bobby Surles, Houston; mother-in-law Prebel Thompson of Wichita Falls. He was preceded in death by his father.
