Darlene was born on October 9th, 1949 in Wichita Falls, TX to the late Carl Darrold Wyatt and Melba Joyce Bellows. She married the love of her life James Skinner on August 26th, 1967.
She started her life’s work with the greatest privilege any mother can have, being a stay at home mom to her children. After her children got older, she and James ran their own auto repair business from 1976 until 1986. In 1990 she found her true passion at Nortex Regional Planning Commission coordinating law enforcement training for an 11-county area. She was also proud to serve as a reserve deputy for the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office for several years. She was forced to retire in 2004 after a debilitating car accident. After the accident, she lived a peaceful life at home where she loved to cook and try new recipes.
She was an active member of the Iowa Park Church of Christ. She cherished her church family and especially enjoyed her sewing group and women’s bible study group.
Darlene loved her family with all her heart. Time spent together with her family was the most enjoyable time for her.
She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Bobby Murdick, brother-in-law Ed Tigrett, and niece Lisa Hambleton.
She is survived by her husband James Skinner; mother-in-law Evelyn Skinner; daughter Ginger Gilmore and husband Guy; son Jeff Skinner and wife Samantha; grandchildren Katie Harrill, Blaine Gilmore, Garrett Gilmore, Erica Paige Skinner, Scott Casson; great-grandchildren Madison, Jace, and Justin; sister Karen Robinson (Kenneth), sister Jan Tigrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Iowa Park Church of Christ, 300 E. Park, Iowa Park, TX 76367 or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., 76301.
