Richard Henry (Dickie) Hander

Richard H. "Dickie" Hander, 64, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Wichita Falls, TX. Services were  held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Lunns Colonial Chapel with Roger Deerinwater of First Baptist Church of Archer City officiating. Entombment was in Crestview Memorial Mausoleum under the direction of Lunns Colonial Funeral Home.

Dickie was born August 7, 1947 in Childress, TX to Dr. Raymond T. and Mary Helen Bybee Hander. He played football and graduated from Rider High School. He graduated from N.E. Louisiana College where he met Marilyn Christine Chicola, the mother of his two sons Jason and Lex. Dickie was a successful restauranteur. He retired from University of North Texas. He was also a coach and a second father to many of his players.

Dickie loved his family and his friends. He enjoyed reunions, cooking and baking and watching his grandsons play sports, and his granddaughters squeal and play.

He is survived by his two sons, Jason Hander and his wife Terri of San Antonio, and Lex Hander and his wife Jennifer of New Braunfels, 3 sisters, Raymonda Almand and husband Lyndon of Bryan, TX, Jamie Speedy Smith and husband Geral of Trinchera, CO, and Jyl Woodress and husband Von of Altus, OK, and 5 grandchildren, Chase Tyler, Austin Ryan, Alexa Nicole, Addison Elise and Ally Kate, and special loved one.
