John Sims

John Anderson Sims, 74, of Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls with Rev. Eric DeLuna officiating.

John was born on December 8, 1946 in Wichita Falls to the late Harry T. and Mildred (Kiddy) Sims.  He proudly served his country as a RECON 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam.  He and Barbara Hutson were married on August 2, 1972 in Wichita Falls.  John joined the Wichita Falls Police Department in 1979, retiring after many years of service.  John’s was a car enthusiast, and a member of the Corvette Club.  He enjoyed collecting coins, and was a member of the VFW.  John enjoyed life to the fullest.  It is said he never met a stranger, and was the most easy going person you would ever meet.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by wife Barbara; son John Anderson Sims Jr. and wife Deanne of Inola, Oklahoma; grandchildren Madison, Jate, and Landree Sims; sister Kiddy Boswell and husband Jim of Wichita Falls; nieces Julie Alexander and husband Wade of Iowa Park, and Amy Lydon and husband Jason of San Antonio; along with several other family, and dear friends.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made in John’s name to Wichita Falls Police Department family fund.
