Death Notice

WINFIELD - Harader, David, 68, passed away on Mar. 7, 2013, of leukemia/lymphoma. Born Dec. 29, 1944, to Ruth and Clinton Harader in Wichita, KS, David was an American Baptist pastor who served churches in KS and spent most of his career as a Hospice chaplain. He had been chaplain for Cumbernauld Village in Winfield since August 2012. David enjoyed KU basketball, lapidary work, and spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Cheryl (Gale); his children and their families: Joanna, of Lawrence, KS, married to Ryan Ellett, mother of James, Jasmine and Grace; and Matthew, of Topeka, KS, married to Jennifer (Holtwick), father of Jackson and Blake; his mother Ruth; siblings Doran, Suzanne Tanner and Debra Russell; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Clinton Harader. Visitation is Sun. from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.; service is Mon. at 10:30, both at First Baptist Church, Winfield. Graveside service Mon. at 3 at Kechi Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be sent to Winfield First Baptist Church, Sojourners, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Harry Hynes Hospice.
