Obituary: Janet Kay Kipers was born in Morristown, New Jersey, on November 29, 1944 to her mother,Juanita Jane Kipers, and father, Virgil M. Kipers, who was in the Navy and overseas at the time. Janet graduated from West High School in Wichita, Kansas, where she worked at a drive-in theatre and as a legal secretary. Janet met and married Charles R. (Ray) Colbert and moved to Maryland, where they purchased a home in Ellicott City. She worked for the Baltimore Sun News, Fedor-White and Associates, and most recently for a tax accounting firm. She had one daughter, Tracy, and two grandsons, Wayne and Jesse. Janet enjoyed working, was an excellent cook, and loved fine clothing . Janet passd away in her Ellicott City home on February 17 after a battle with cancer. She is survived by daughter Tracy; grandsons Wayne and Jesse of Maryland; father Virgil Kipers, Sr. and sister Karla Richardson, both of Topeka, Kansas; brother Virgil Kipers, Jr. of Littleton, Colorado, and brother Gary Kipers of Pierce City, Missouri.
