In Memory

John Howard Davis

John Howard Davis, 75, of Parkville, Missouri, passed away Aug. 14, 2024, at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1949, in Edinburg, Texas, to Earl and Mary Elaine (Sheppard) Sherril. He would be raised alongside his loving big sister, Sandra Lynn, by his mother and stepfather, Rex Davis. They both preceded him in death.

John graduated from Wichita West High School, in Wichita, Kansas, in 1967 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a MA in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University. He married the love of his life, Brenda Marie Heimerman, on Jan. 3, 1976, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ost, Kansas. Their early married life was spent in Wichita and Prairie Village, Kansas, before making Parkville their home with their son, Jonathan.

John spent the majority of his working career in the fields of agricultural economics, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning beginning with Farmland Industries and ending with his retirement from the USDA in 2016.

Above all, John loved being a supportive and caring husband and father. Faith and family were at the center of his life. He was very devoted to his Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Therese Parish, in Parkville. John involved himself with whatever his wife or son were involved in such as music, yard projects, church and school activities, and other hobbies. He enjoyed camping trips and family vacations, especially to the mountains, hiking, and fishing with Jonathan. John was always supportive of his son in all of his activities throughout the years such as sports and music. Together they were actively involved in basketball, Boy Scouts, and even did Tae-kwon-do together as a family with Brenda. Especially, John was very supportive of his son in following God's call to the Priesthood.

One can only imagine how proud he was in raising his son and how much he loved both his wife, Brenda, and Fr. Jonathan. John was a loving husband, father, and friend to many. He loved to laugh and joke, and always brought happiness and laughter wherever he went. John was a lover of wisdom and always encouraged others to achieve their God-given potential through perseverance.
