Karen Hawkins Obituary

Oh, when I come to the end of my journey,
Weary of life and the battle is fought and the victory is won;
Carrying the staff and the cross of redemption,
He'll understand and say, "Well done."

Karen Diane Hawkins peacefully answered the Master's call on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Her life's journey began on January 1, 1962, as a "New Year's Baby." She is the daughter of the late Ida Mae Hawkins and Alfonzo Hawkins. "Diane," as she was so affectionately called, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend.

At an early age, Diane accepted Christ as her personal savior, was baptized, and became a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She graduated from Lafayette High School, and worked as a dedicated employee in the food industry. She later relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to be with her family there. She attended Lifepoint Church and participated in Serve outreach projects with the church. She loved the Lord and regularly read her bible. She also loved cooking, cleaning, and listening to her "Oldies but Goodies" music. She will truly be missed by everyone. We find comfort in knowing that she is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Diane was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Everette Hawkins; nephew, Antwan Hawkins; close family friend, Al Jones; and special friend, Ulysses Smith. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children, Anesha Carroll, Irese Hawkins, and Allen Hawkins; eight grandchildren, Iliana, Keara, Francisco "aka Trey," Aonesty, Keyanna, Serenity, Alana, and Aria; loving siblings, Hilda, SFC Kenneth, Wanda (Derick), and Alex Hawkins; sister-in-law, Sherlene Hawkins; special devoted friends, Brad, Chico, and Jamie; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. The family would also like to express gratitude to Aunt Joyce "Dino" Evans for her help and support provided to the family.
