Jim Vossler VIEW PROFILE

James Vossler was born September 13, 1955, in Williston, ND to Julius and Ellen (Hofland) Vossler. On Sept. 13, a young father sang his own rendition of Jim Reeve’s song “Bimbo” live on a local radio station telecast in honor of his newborn son, thus his nickname became, has become, and will forever be “Bimbo.”

Jim was raised and educated in Williston. He spent most of his upbringing playing several sports and also enjoyed school. Jim learned at a young age the role a mentor plays in one’s life. He was forever grateful for the guidance and support he was given throughout his high school and college career. Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and math, with a master’s in mathematics from Minot State University. He also attended the University of Mary, where he earned his master’s degree in business.

His professional life included coaching, teaching mathematics and directing education programs at a healthcare facility, as well as a respected university. He touched the lives of many people he met. Jim took a no-nonsense approach with teaching and inspired others to challenge their way of thinking. He demonstrated to others the way to success was hard work, sharing your talents, and that having the right attitude is a choice and comes from your heart. On Sept. 8, 1978, he married Kris Engelhardt of Mandan and together, they had two daughters, Annie and Maddie. Although Jim was professionally driven, his family was of utmost importance. Jim loved talking sports, visiting with his family and friends and shopping for cars.

Jim is survived by his mother, Ellen Hofland; his brother, Jerry (Marlene) Atol; his sister, Judy (Dan) McKenzie; his brother, Jeff Skaare; his stepbrothers, Bob, Bill and Ron Vossler; and his daughters, Annie (Shawn) Hoellein and Maddie (Adam) Nordmeyer. He was preceded in death by his father, Julius; and his grandparents.
