Gregory William Dixon, age 40, of Newark, DE, passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday, October 16, 2011, after a 17-month battle with brain cancer. Greg was a devoted husband, father, son and friend who loved life to the fullest. Cancer did not steal his spirit, determination, or smile. Although he will be greatly missed, he will live in our hearts forever.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on September 16, 1971, Greg was the son of Joan (Campbell) Hawkins and Jeffrey Dixon. He was a 12th-generation Dixon of the Hockessin, DE area. A graduate of McKean High School and James Madison University, Greg worked for The Vanguard Group and JPMorgan Chase before becoming a product manager for Algorithmics, Inc., Philadelphia, PA. 

Greg is survived by his wife of 13 years, Melissa (Wade) Dixon, and their children, Jack William Dixon and Sarah Mae Dixon; his mother, Joan (Campbell) Hawkins and stepfather, Joseph Hawkins; his father, Jeffrey Dixon; his older sister, Tracy (Dixon) Lussier, her husband, Chad, and their children, Colin, Jenna and Kelsi; his younger sister Diana (Dixon) D'Souza, her husband, Rohit, and their daughter, Ava; his parents-in-law, Cheryl and Kevin Wade; his brother-in-law, Chris Wade, wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Shane and Kyle; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday, October 19th, 5:00 - 8:00 pm, at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808. A service honoring Greg will take place on Thursday, October 20th, 10:00 -11:00 am, at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennan's Church Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations in Greg's name to Supporting Kidds Center for Grieving Children & Families, 1213 Old Lancaster Pike, Hockessin DE 19707.
