JAMES A. “JIM” DILLARD, 55, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, April 3, 2010 at Harry Hynes Hospice at St. Francis in Wichita.

Born July 30, 1954 in Winfield, Kansas, Jim was the son of James E. Dillard and Patricia Kern. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and served in the Vietnam War. He was later honorably discharged.

Jim worked as a security guard for Wackenhut for several years. He was united in marriage to Melodie Connelly on November 21, 1984 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. He enjoyed classic model cars, camping and boating and being on the lake.

His family includes: His wife: Melodie Dillard of the home; His daughter: Jamie Jo Dillard of Winfield; His mother: Patricia McNnown and husband, Harrison of Winfield; His brothes: Nicholas Ryan of California; Scott McNown and Robert McNown both of Winfield, KS; and David McNown of South Carolina; and His extended family members.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James E. Dillard.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service.

A memorial has been established in Mr. Dillard’s name for Feed The Children. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
