Paul Coon

Paul Coon, 55, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, September 12, 2012 at his home.

Born December 16, 1956 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Donald D. and Rojean Maye (Stewart) Coon. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1974. While attending school he began working in the construction field with his father. He later traveled to various jobs as a heavy equipment operator, working in many states including Texas and Nebraska. Paul had three children from a previous marriage, Shane, Josh and Brandi.

In 1994 he met the love of his life, Debi Piatt. On March 23, 2000 the couple were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple made their home in Winfield, where Paul continued working as a heavy equipment operator on several project. In 2006 Paul and Debi became the owners of PC’s Saloon in Winfield, which they continued to own and operate until his passing.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, reading and watching old westerns, drinking beer. He also enjoyed volunteering his time to the Sunshine Kids Fishing Tournament on Lake Quivera by Sedan. He especially loved spending time with his friends and family.

His family includes: His wife: Debi Coon of Winfield; His daughters: Melissa Salsman and husband, Dan of Winfield; Heather Meier and husband, Matt of Winfield; His sons: Cory Piatt of Winfield; Travis Black of Derby; Trevor Black of Weatherford, OK; His mother: Rojean Coon of Winfield; His sister: Cindy Coon of Winfield; His brother: Curtiss Coon and wife, Jolea of Winfield; His grandchildren: Brittany, Kelsey, Sierra, Kodi, Koal, Kloee, and Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his canine companion, Shadow.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Donald Coon.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Paul’s name for RiverCross Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
