John Carlus Calhoun passed away at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 68.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Carlus and Berniece Calhoun, sister Naomi, daughter-in-law Tracey Calhoun and grandson Alfred Alcantar.
John is survived and lovingly remembered by his brother James Calhoun of Sherman, TX; sister Debbie Calhoun of Wilson, Minnesota; brother Dennie Calhoun of Denison, TX; son Michael Calhoun and wife Tana of Savoy, TX; son Craig Calhoun of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren Courtney Alcantar and her husband Alfredo, Chris Calhoun and Tiffany Love, Katelyn, Megan and Caleb Calhoun, great grand-daughter Mila Alcantar, and many loving relatives and friends.
John was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on June 13, 1949. He graduated from Winona Senior High in 1967. After graduating, he served in The United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He then was employed as a truck driver for several companies throughout his career. He moved his family to Texas in 1981.
He enjoyed watching dirt track racing in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas and Oklahoma. He was a flag man at River Raceways in Fountain City, WI, Olmstead County Fairgrounds in Kasson, MN and at Grayson County Speedway where both of his sons raced. He also enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR.
The memorial visitation will be held at Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N. Travis St, Sherman, TX on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
