Robby Long had worked at his church (Mizpah Moravian Church, Rural Hall) all day helping clean up tree limbs from trees that had been topped. He passed away that night, January 19, 1998, from an asthma attack. I remember Robby as a fun loving guy with a smile on his face all the time.

I grew up with Robby at my church and he was kind hearted guy. We went to Larual Ridge Camp togerher a couple of times. Robby often carred coffee at our church's Moravian lovefeasts. He apprenticed as a the coffee maker under my Dad and Calvin Shore. Robby loved what he did at Mizpah Moravian church. Robby had a servant's heart.

Another friend gone too early. Robby, Steve Wall and I had a "band" way back when. I use the term band VERY loosly! Steve and I played guitar and Robby played drums. We played in Robbie's basement. CCR, Beatles, country...a couple tunes each. And we rode bicycles all over Tobaccoville! Then there was the winter I almost broke my hip in his driveway after I slipped on ice. OUCH! It was very sad to hear he had passed. Robby was cool. Rest peacefully my friend.

I indulged in a lot of youthful indiscretions with Robby and treasure the memories. He had wit and warmth and I count myself lucky to have known him.
