I got to know Jim casually during my time in the Cotrol department. He was a master purveyor of all the numbers that were important to Wachovia. Numbers that filled all the required regulatory fiilings, numbers that presented Wachoia to sharholders in the annual report and other quarterly reports, plus a host of other public financial documents that he and his team produced. He was quietly and supremely confident in his work. In my interations with Jim, he seemed almost shy in beginning a conversation, but there was a twinkle in his eye and a decisive crisp manner of speaking that immediately let you know he commanded a vast knowledge of the important numbers and all the reasons why they were important. He was really good at his job and Wachovia was the better for his contributions. RIP.
