Garry Randall Crist, 70, of Winston-Salem, NC. Missing him forever are his wife, LaDonna; son, Patrick (Laura); daughter, Becca (Mitch) Weaver; three grandchildren, Theodore, Isla, and Allison; sister, Sharon (Ron) Duvall; aunt, Caroline Council; mother-in-law, Lillian Willard; brother-in-law, Brian (Charlotte) Willard; nieces, cousins, and his precious aide Shaina Ramos. Parents, William and Ruth Crist predeceased him.

Garry was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Mt. Tabor High School Marching Band, and the Track/Cross Country team, earning an NCAA Medal. His education continued via a Cross Country scholarship at Lees McRae College, where he majored in math. He was a co-founder and referee for the West Central Community Youth Basketball League in Pfafftown, NC. His favorite activities were anything his children participated in; Little League Baseball Coach, Colorguard parent, and school trip chaperone. As a devoted member of College Park Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Welcome Desk greeter, and participated in numerous committees. He had a gift of making everyone he encountered feel like the most important person in the world.

His greatest joy came from being “Papa” to his grandchildren. Some of his fondest moments included sharing ice cream, hugs, and reading stories while voicing all the characters. Simply watching them play made him smile.

The immediate family extends gratitude to our extended family, friends, and neighbors for their continuous care. To the staff and members of College Park who went above and beyond- you have blessed us beyond measure.

In lieu of a traditional service, we want to gather with friends and family to celebrate Garry’s life.

He loved eating a bowl of ice cream while watching whatever sport
was in season so we will celebrate him in the same spirit!
He requested this be a joyous, not sad event … we invite you to wear your favorite team gear and enjoy a bowl of ice cream while sharing memories and fun stories of Garry.
