Coach Wilson Alexander

BELEWS CREEK Jan. 22, 1932 - July 19, 2018 Willson Alexander, 86, went home to be with his Lord Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2018 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. Sometimes words cannot fully express how much someone means to so many. Those fortunate enough to share time with Willson Alexander know how he touched their lives and should know their importance in his life. He loved us all very much and we are better for having shared him in this life. Willson was born on January 22, 1932 in Forsyth County, NC to Webster S. and Ophelia Willson Alexander. He was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill where he played football as a right guard, and earned his teaching degree. He retired from Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools after serving as a teacher and coach for over 30 years in both Rockingham and Forsyth Counties. While at Mt. Tabor High School, he started the football and wrestling programs. Willson was a member of Belews Creek Christian Church where he served as deacon. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Audrey Faye Neal Alexander, 3 sisters; Dora Hanks, Nancy Jones, and Ann King, and 1 brother; Abner Alexander. Willson is survived by his daughter, Sharon Walsh (Brent); son, James Alexander (Ashley); 4 grandchildren, Lauren Olive (Taylor), Alexander Walsh (Emily), James Alexander, Jr., and Neal Alexander; 4 great grandchildren, Alexis, Mackenzie, Raegan, and Owen Olive, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was Monday, July 23, 2018 at Belews Creek Christian Church with Pastor Herb Mabe officiating. Burial followed in the Neal Family Cemetery.
