Tammy Mullins (Dean) (1979)
WISE – Edward (E.O.) Salyer Jr., 59, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at the Norton Community Hospital in Norton.graduate of J.J. Kelly High School, an avid sports fan, a coach for the Wise Little League baseball, Babe Ruth League baseball and the Wise Peanut football, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U. S. Marine Corps , where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and other medals, and was a disabled coal miner from Glamorgan Coal Co.
He was a lifelong resident of Wise County, a 1967
He was preceded in death by a brother, Monty Salyer.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Bishop Salyer; a son, E.O. Salyer III; two grandsons, Isaiah and Cole Salyer; his parents, E.O. Salyer Sr. and Betty Hall Salyer; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Gary Salyer Mullins; a niece, Melissa Mullins Dotson and husband Russell; two nephews, Sean Salyer and Clay Salyer; a great-niece, Skye; a great-nephew, Neheimiah; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Edward (E.O.) Salyer Jr. will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Norton Road, SW, Wise, VA 24293, with Rev. Randy Sturgill and Rev. Blair Harvey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. till time of services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sturgill Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at a later date.
