William C. Craft, Jr. - Class Of 1937

William C. Craft, Jr. was a son of William C. Craft, Sr and Ida Mae Gilliam Craft.  He was the first of this family of 5 boys to go to college.  He was a graduate of Wise High School and Hiwassi College.  Drafted into the Army he went to OCS and was commissioned a 2nd LT.  He was in Company A of the 63rd Armored Infantry Bat. and wounded in the Battle of the Bulge on Jan 1, 1944.  While in the service of his country he married Madeline Holbrook (deceased) of Carfax, Va.   Following military service he and his wife were teachers in the Wise County School System  at St. Paul until 1952 when they and their son Billy C. relocated to Ocala, FL where they continued to teach and he was an elementary school principal.  Following health issues they were relocated to Idaho by their son and both are buried there.
