Tommy was my best friend in second grade. He introduced me to swear words. I kept in touch with him in grade school after his family moved into New Haven but lost touch with him when he went to Hopkins until he came to Amity. He was bright and charismatic. While were never again as close as when we were 7, i am pained that his life was cut so short.
Everyone probably remembers Tom because he left in his prime, right at the beginning of the adventure for all of us. I wasn't close with him in the teen years. My memories of him are (believe it or not) first crush, in grade school. I have this vision of us walking -- walking -- from school, past the Blue Check toward his house. All else is pretty much a blur. He was a gentle soul (despite the swear words we now know he knew & taught ). The best we all can do is recall the smile and be grateful that love graces our lives with special people like him...no matter for how short a time.
