Leo Alexander Maruschak, Jr.

On Sunday, September 30, 2018, Leo Alexander Maruschak, Jr., loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 55. Leo was born in Washington, D.C., on December 23, 1962, to Leo and Rose (Tomasko) Maruschak, Sr. For everyone who knew Leo, he was a unique character who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Leo graduated from Gar-Field High School, in Woodbridge, Virginia, in 1981 where he was an intense standout on the football team wearing #55. He attended the University of Virginia on a football scholarship and finished his education at Towson State University. He received his bachelor’s degree from TSU in business in 1986, but always had a passion for art.

On November 13, 1992, he married Julie Wichmann. Together, they had three daughters. Leo worked as a security professional in the aerospace industry. Leo was known for his love of heavy metal music, football and food. More than anything, he loved his family.

Leo is survived by his wife Julie, their three daughters, Megan, Lydia and Brooke; his parents Leo and Rose (Tomasko) Maruschak, his sister Suzanne Maruschak and her partner Tony Pineda of San Francisco; his sister Carol and husband Jim Farrington of Dale City, Virginia; his sister Tracy and her husband Ed Ruff of South Riding, Virginia; and several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and one grand-niece.

He will be truly missed.

Friends and family are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, Maryland 21075 ( exit 6 off Rt. 100) on Saturday, October 6 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. to remember Leo and share stories. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
