Obituary

Charles Elston Simmons (known by most as Charley), was born July 5, 1963 in Quantico, Virginia to Ephriam Simmons and the late Eleanor (Major) Simmons. Charley departed this life, at the age of 55, on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Charley is the beloved brother of Diane Mallea (Dan), Bruce Simmons (Sherrie), Tonda Lovelace (Anthony), Robert Simmons (Tammy), David Rodriguez and Carrie Rizzo (Michael). Uncle Charley was cherished by nine nieces (Stephanie, Jessica, Sancy, Stacy, Bethany, Alysia, Destiny, Jamie and Carrie) and one nephew (Breeze) and affectionately coined “Uncle Scooter” by his great nephews (Samuel, Kaydon, Elijah and Ezra) and great nieces (Skylar and Kaydence).

Charley was a hard worker, who loved to ride his motorcycle, spend time with family and friends and just chill. He graduated from Garfield H.S., served in the U.S. Army and was a dedicated general manager for Papa John’s Pizza. His sense of humor, kind soul, simple mannerisms and appreciation for some well seasoned greens, will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at the Star Bethlehem Church, 19068 Bethlehem Church Road, Triangle, VA 22172 on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 10:30 AM until the time of his Homegoing Service at 11:30 AM. Interment with Army Honors will follow at 2:00 PM at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172.
