Yes Dee it is north of Woodbridge but its not small - but then again it might be compared to those in CA.

I am bringing my husband.  He is my driver these days.  I try to avoid driving on the highways in this area.  Also, we are staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton on Old Keene Mill Rd.....about a mile away.  They have a free shuttle that will take you within 3 miles.  The suites have a fully equipped kitchen with a full size refrigerator, living area and a free breakfast including hot food.  We were able to get a late checkout time at 2:00 instead of 11:00 with the AARP discount.  This place is the same rate as the other Hilton, but brand new, and a great place for before and after gatherings, and folks coming from out of town.  I do know of a couple of other reunion attendees staying there, too.  Anyway, thought it was worth a mention.  See you all at the reunion!

I just changed my reservation at the Homewood Suites by Hilton to a non-refundable rate of $89.00 for the night.  It will have the regular check-out time at 11:00, but that's okay.  We want to get home to see the Redskins play at 1:00, anyway.  This deal is offered to anyone.  Hope this helps!

Hi Rachelle,

I don't live in Woodbridge anymore but I am just north of Ft. Belvoir.

Depending on when you want to get there, I could come down to give you a ride.  (Old friendships never die).

Please give me a call if nothing else pops up.

Volunteers for the 50th WSHS Class Reunion are Needed!!!

There are so many ideas and things we would like to accomplish for this very special 50th Reunion. Unless we get volunteers, many things are not going to happen. Whatever time and energy you can contribute will be greatly appreciated!  Let me know the area(s) you are interested in and I can connect you with someone, or in some cases, put you in charge.

> find missing classmates - need emails, contact number
> collect pictures and /or create slideshow to play at the main event,
> for multitude of different reasons many classmates, that want to be at the reunion, are unable to attend - collect their homemade videos for presentation at the reunion,
> be at front door of main event to check in classmates and their guest,
> many other activities as needs arise.

Let me know what appeals to you!

FYI.  Following up on Ruby's comment regarding reservations and contacting the hotel via phone.  Unsuccessful 10 Aug booking online.  Called the hotel three times in 10 minutes; probably just one of those mornings when things are nonstop and frantic, but encountered confusion at the front desk with immediate but unsuccessful attempts to route me to the main Hilton reservations number.  On the fourth call immediately asked for the manager; Mr Frank Ford took care of the reservation for us.

Glad I made ours early. Did it online without any problems. But very glad that the management is helping people out with their reservations.

Prince William County Schools are rejecting the Virginia Department of Education's new model policies on transgender students.  The new policies require school staff to refer to students only using gender pronouns and names corresponding to their official record unless a students parent's make a request in writing to the school.  They also mandate that athletics participation be based on biological sex  and require student to use bathrooms corresponding to their birth sex.

Sorry if this post is inappropriate for this forum, but something I feel strong about.  Needless to say I do not support Prince William Schools.

I was just looking at the In Memorium section and was very disheartened to see all of those who have passed. Many of them I remember personally and some by just their names. In reading some of the obits provided I saw many perused careers that somehow we knew they would. The one that stuck in mind most was Donna Yeager. She was definitely the Prima Dona of the drama dept in school and is no wonder she continued in the theater. A shining light dimmed too early. Just one example of how much we have meant to each other and the memories we have 50 years later. PLEASE sign up and come to the reunion. I think we all need just one more glimpse of 1973.

Sadly, so many classmates are physically or mentally,  unable to attend our 50th reunion. Please be sure to reach out to those you remember, and even those you did not know well. While working on the reunion celebration, I have made contact with not only our classmates but many spouses, siblings, friends and friends of friends! What great conversations and memories!  I am overwhelmed with the love and support I have received from our old Woodbridge residents. It was a very special time and place. And I know that from all the folks I have reconnected with. You know that saying...Reach out and touch someone!...it is now more meaningful to me than ever. You should try it! It warms your heart, sparks the memories and makes you grateful that you crossed paths with that person in this journey called 'Life'.

Wanted to thank Ruby Grooms for all the time and effort she has put into this.  People like her are very special.  I spent most of my time on the golf course during high school so never really had a chance to get to know you all well until my senior year and then on a limited basis.  The folks I remember best I cannot locate at all and one good friend has ditched many of us because of his politics.  Even if I don't see you all at the reunion you all are great and we lived and went to high school during the best years.  Our music and cars were the best!  I now live in Virginia Beach and if anyone is this way please get in contact.  Bless you all!

Hi All,
Spike Oxford here.
Thanks to Ruby's extra efforts, I have successfully signed up for our 50th reunion.
I'm hoping to see a "last minute rush"
on the "Confirmed" list.

Richard (Dickie) Pitts

Hi, everyone! I'm one member of that "last minute rush" as I'm taking care of expenses covering travel and the main event on the 23rd. Never like to commit when only half- adequate. Please forgive my procrastination in this regard. Ruby, I promise to be fully confirmed before the fifth.

Let's welcome Jimmy Lloyd's wife, Annamarie, to our website. Those that remember Jimmy, please share those memories and stories.  She deserves to know the love his classmates have for him and how he touched our lives.
