Kristin passed away in Berkeley, September 2, 2001 at the age of 45 years. She is survived by her husband, Ron Chung of El Cerrito; two daughters, Robin and Sara Chung of El Cerrito; mother and step-father, Jan and Jack Rye of Woodland, Calif; brother, Neil Wirth of Concord; brother and sister in-law, Eric and Sue Wirth of Albany. Also survived by four nephews and one niece. A native of Oakland, then raised in Woodland, Calif. A resident of El Cerrito for 15 years

I ran into Kristin walking to class in 1976 in May at UC Berkeley. I was participating in The All-Cal Intramural Softball tournament at Strawberry Field. We had a nice chat. I had not seen her since I moved away from Woodland mid term in 8th grade. I ended up breaking my wrist playing against UC Davis later that afternoon. I went to Alta Bates Hospital the following day for x-rays, and a cast. My great uncle Jim Harkness was the team physician for the Cal Bears for 37 years, boy did I receive some first class treatment there. My older sister Sara actually worked at that same hospital as an RN years later. In any event so sorry to learn that she passed away at such a young age. She had lists more to contribute to society.
