Jim Cannon informed me Steve died on this date (October 9, 2014) at Samaritan Hospital, Ashland OH. Our sincere sympathy is extended, as we remember the passing of another classmate.
I'm very sorry (and a bit surprised) to learn Steve passed away. He seemed pretty much indestructible back in school (although that was attributable to his ability to play with pain - which he had too much of). He was certainly one of our very best athletes, but he also had a sharp mind, a sly sense of humor, and a mischievous streak that made him fun to hang with. Don Rudy was a pal of his back when. So if you can remember Don, you can imagine those two stirring things up and keeping a straight face the whole time (although Jake woud inevitably crack up). I know that Christine Hoffman enjoyed his sense of humor and would have wanted to send him her regards along with Paula Steigerwald's. He had a classy style about him that a lot of people appreciated.... and I'm sure that all of us who knew him are sad to see him go. Aloha
